Throwing Your Big Birthday Bash in Dubai

Are you hitting a milestone age soon and thus, you're looking for a good venue in Dubai to be able to celebrate your big birthday bash? I've been in this dilemma a number of times myself and after lengthy research, I thought of sharing my findings with you to make this process a little easier for you!

Finding a venue in Dubai that can accommodate large groups is very hard because most of the venues either charge super high rates to block out the venue exclusively for you and your friends; or simply refuse making bookings for groups over a certain number. If you are looking for non-conventional venues (i.e. not a club), then you have come to the right source of information:

1. Harry Ghatto's Karaoke Night at Jumeirah Emirates Towers

Booking Harry Ghatto's at Jumeirah Emirates Towers to celebrate your special day by singing your lungs out can be quite an experience. If you book the entire space, you can fit in it around 50 - 60 people comfortably. There is no set rate on booking the space as it depends on average minimum spend which varies between seasons and which night it will be on but with a little negotiation, you may bring down the price to a total of AED 8,000 - 10,000 which the venue will include selected F&B with it. That works out to be AED 160 - 200 per person which is quite a good deal!

To book the venue, contact Jumeirah Emirates Towers and ask to be connected to the bar itself (not restaurant reservations). The hotel's contact is 04-3300000

2. Cafe Habana at Souk Al Bahar

Cafe Habana is one of Dubai's very few authentic Cuban-Mexican joints that is located in Souk Al Bahar, Downtown Dubai.

On regular nights, the venue is a host of a buzzing atmosphere with the dj spinning a mix of sounds from the 90s and today. The space itself is somewhat cozy, and this is why celebrating your big day here may be an ideal choice. To book out the entire venue, you will need to hit minimum spend of course which again varies from season to season, and what day of the week it is. Yet one thing I walked away with by holding my birthday celebration here is that these folks are not after charging you with so much money, as much as they are after having a great time!

By going for a set menu that costed AED 120 per person, Cafe Habana agreed to block out half of the restaurant for our group of 50 people. We had the dance floor for ourselves and of course direct access to the dj who coped up with our random and numerous requests. The arrangement was that any alcoholic drinks would need to be ordered separately and directly from the bar, and its charge was excluded from the set menu's charge.

3. GuGu Boat at Dubai Marina

Anyone who has been living in Dubai for a while has probably been on a yacht experience; but what makes the GuGu Boat experience different is the following:

- Can accommodate up to 90 people
- It is specifically designed as a party boat (120sqm dance floor area along with DJ equipment)
- Upper and lower decks equipped with lounge seating areas; and upper deck also has a bar area

For a minimum cruise duration of 2 hours, the boat charges a total AED 8,000 (price goes up as duration increases). The tariff only includes drinks and the cruise; food and the DJ are charged separately. The boat offers day and night charters.
