A few days ago, I visited The Majlis Ramadan Tent at the Dubai World Trade Center for Suhoor. Here's how I felt about that evening. Bear in mind that it was a week day that did not coincide with a World Cup game night:
What I liked:
- No minimum charge option is available
- Minimum charge on the sofas section, for the entire table, is AED 200; while minimum charge for the Majlis is AED 500 for the entire group. This makes it one of the lowest priced Ramadan tents available in the market
- Management reserves a few tables for walk-ins; but this is highly in demand and is subject to availability. It is highly advisable to go early if you want to be lucky in getting a table
- Menu items are reasonably priced, and food quality is good
- Large screens available to watch the World Cup matches, while it lasts
What I think can be improved:
- Valet service is over-priced. It was either AED 30 or 50, not sure. In any case, you have the option to park it either in the multistory car park and pay way less than that; or in the free parking opposite to Novotel Hotel and walk it, yet the latter won't be very convenient for ladies with heels or for people who don't like to walk a lot
- Service sometimes is not prompt. My friend's Shisha order took 20 minutes!
- Though it is not a biggie, and they tend to correct it when you point it out, the staff sometimes brings you the wrong order
This tent is quite a popular option for budget outings; however bookings may be a challenge. Therefore, book well in advance to guarantee your table.
